The Vian Wolverines varsity baseball team improves record with a 2-2 week. Last Tuesday Vian played the #2 team in class B, the Red Oak Eagles, the Wolverines took the 6-3 loss even though they outhit the Eagles. The #5 Wolverines (15-5) then played in the Central-Sallisaw Tournament. The first round pitted Vian and Keys a game they Wolverines took 6-0 behind AJ Rodriguez's grand slam. Vian played the Pocola Indians in the semifinals and beat them by the score of 10-4. Finally in the championship game the Wolverines played the #4 Spiro Bulldogs a rematch of a earlier game this year (Spiro won 8-0) the game started out good for the Wolverines taking a 3-0 lead into the 3rd inning and then adding to lead by the bottom of 5th leading 8-5. The Bulldogs made a huge comeback to tie it a 10 and eventually winning 11-10.
The #4 Vian Wolverines baseball team played 4 games over the past week and won three of the four. Vian beat Roland last Tuesday 7-6 a game that we would've lost without Rylee Simon. The Wolverines then beat Muldrow in a 17-2 rout with 9 scores in the second inning. Vian then played two games in the Claremore Sequoyah Festival, taking one game and losing the other. They lost to Berryhill in game one 5-2 and beat Ft. Gibson in game two in a high scoring 14-9 game.
The Vian Wolverines varsity baseball team went 2-1 over the past week. Vian beat Westville last Monday 17-0 in a game that was never a game. Then they lost to #19 Sequoyah Tahlequah 8-5 a game that saw the Wolverines outhit the Indians but errors cost them the game. They capped off the week with a 3-0 win over Stilwell with AJ Rodriguez's 8 strikeouts. The game at Oktaha saw a hail storm like no other and forced the game to be called.
The (#2) Vian Wolverines (8-1) went a perfect 4-0 this past week. Vian started off spring break with a win over Gore last Wednesday, the wolverines started strong and blew out Gore 13-1. The Wolverines then traveled to Ripley to participate in the annual
tournament. Vian the reigning Ripley Tournament champions began there title defense against Mulhall-Orlando in the first round winning that game 10-0 with no hits allowed. In the semifinals against Stonewall, they pulled off a 8-0 win in the fifth inning. The championship game saw a battle vs Leedey (a rematch of last year's title game) the game was to supposed to start at 6:00 pm but with a three hour delay, the game started around 9:45 pm. The Wolverines got down early but the bottom of the 6th inning, Vian down 4-3 scored four times to take the lead 7-4. Leedey came back to tie it at seven a piece but Wolverine magic came into play with Denver Coffee's walk off single to win 8-7, the game went to 11 innings and ended at almost 2:00 am. The Wolverines have now won two consecutive Ripley Championships.

Baseball is here and the Wolverines open the season in a home game against Cameron last Monday March 10th. In a game where the Wolverines started out fast, AJ Rodriguez had a two-run double in the first inning, Rylee Simon had a RBI single in the second inning to help start the rout. Jon Andrews had 10 strikeouts and Denver Coffee and Rodriquez combined for four hits two RBI's, The #4 Wolverines won 10-2. Vian played Hulbert the next day, the Wolverines blew the doors off in the second inning scoring nine runs in the inning on the way to win 11-0. Matt McConnell didn't allow a earned run all game. The #4 Wolverines played two games last Friday at the Henryetta Festival. Vian beat Henryetta in game one by the score of 10-0, a game which saw Colan Cole throw a no-hitter. In game 2 was a different story, the Wolverines had to fight back to earn a victory over Beggs winning 14-10 in extra innings. Then last Saturday, the #4 Wolverines played the #2 Spiro Bulldogs a game they lost 8-0 snapping the hot start to the season at 4 games in a row. The Prairie Grove game was canceled due to rain. Next game home vs Gore 3/19/14 at 2:30 PM.

The Vian Lady Wolverines basketball team season ends. The Lady Wolverines (22-4) loss to Sequoyah-Tahlequah 58-53 in OT, in the class 3a Area IV consolation championship game on Saturday March 8th. The Lady Wolverines went 4-2 in the playoffs and just one game shy of the state tournament. The season's shining moments were winning two mid season tournaments, Sequoyah County Tournament and Checotah Tournament, another exciting moment was winning the 2014 districts. The Lady Wolverines had a 11 game winning streak going in the regular season yet another shining moment. Under first year head coach Jordan Garner, the Lady Wolverines posted there best record since the 2008-09 campaign, with a record of 22-4. The Lady Wolverines beat every team in the Big Eight Conference by an average of 25 points, going 8-0 and winning the Big Eight Conference. The Lady Wolverines reached as high as #4 in class 3a rankings (MaxPreps) and as high #16 in the entire state of Oklahoma (MaxPreps). The Vian Lady Wolverines had a great season and the Wolverine nation is proud.
The Vian Lady Wolverines advance to area championship by beating Metro Christian 41-39. Lady Wolverines will play tomorrow night at 6:30 PM @ Checotah vs Sequoyah Tahl.
